ESG Metting 9-13-11
My apologies for the delay. Last week's meeting covered a couple topics. First there is an Alcohol Bystander class that is being offered to all of the ESG members. It will be towards the end of the semester. I am not sure if there is a cost, or when the exact dates are, but I will let everyone know as soon as I find out. If you want to take the class and haven't told someone, then please let one of us know.
Also there are a couple volunteer opportunities coming up. First is the Mankato Marathon. It is Oct. 22nd, the times will be posted soon. Second is rake the town on Oct. 29th from 9-1. There is another volunteer opportunity in the works, kids against hunger. When we figure out dates/times for this, I will post them up.
Lastly, our treasurer is looking into various apparel ideas. Either t-shirts (probably long sleeve), maybe sweat pants, and possibly sweatshirts. I am sure more information will be put out at our next meeting.
If you are interested in any of the volunteer options, please let us know! Also if you are interested in any apparel, let us know as well. If their are any questions about anything, send an email to mnsu.esg@gmail.com, otherwise megan.callahan@mnsu.edu.
Have an awesome day!

Tuesday 8-30-11
Today was our first meeting of the year! Off to a new start with a good turn out. One of the things we're discussing is the homecoming parade. Do we want to have a float, and are their any ideas for the float? Also what would we want to throw? Something healthy, or something sweet!?
Another thing, since the fall semester is kind of slow, and the opportunity to get all of our 15 hours may be hard. Are their any other volunteering options/ideas around the Mankato area for us to help out with?
Lastly I know it seems far away, but the APHA conference in Washington D.C. is around the end of October, if their are any people wishing to attend please let us know!
If you have any thoughts, suggestions or comments to any of these things just send an email back to mnsu.esg@gmail.com, or you can email me directly at megan.callahan@mnsu.edu.

Meeting Notes 4.12.11
Today was our last meeting, we wrapped up our thoughts about the Food & Fitness Expo and Relay For Life. Thank you for everyone that participated at Relay and fund-raised for Relay! It was a huge success! Remember you can still fund raise online until July.
We also discussed initiation. If you are a new member it is very important that you make it to initiation. If you can't make it this semester then you can still be involved and wait to be initiated next semester. Initiation fees are $45 made out to Eta Sigma Gamma. Those fees can be turned in at initiation. Our initiation date is set for Wednesday May 4th at 4pm it only takes about an hour. The room is still to be determined so make sure you are checking for our email! Also it will be a potluck so start thinking if you want to bring some food to share!
We have some more opportunities to do baseball concessions. We need to set on a date so if there is a date that anyone really is interested in helping with please email us back asap at mnsu.esg@gmail.com.
The dates are Wednesday April 20th at 1:30pm, Friday April 22nd at 1:30pm, Saturday April 23rd at 12pm, Sunday May 1st at 1:30pm, and Tuesday May 4th at 1:30pm. These are all double headers. Let us know if you're interested in helping out with any of those dates.
We need new officers for next year!! We are looking for energetic people to help run ESG. It would be ideal if you can make it to all of the meeting times. The meeting times may change for next year, it depends what the officers decide together. The current positions that are open are;
Treasurer: you will be in charge of getting initiation fees from everyone. Also you are in charge of ordering the sweatshirts/tshirts and getting the money from everyone. Judith is a big help to the treasurer also.
Secretary: This job entails taking notes at the meeting, updating the blog regularly, and sending out all the emails to members or businesses. You also make sure all the members are signed up for email updates.
Vice President: You will be the President's "helper" it is basically working with the President to plan events and meetings. You can be in charge of events if you wish to be. You work a lot with the other officers and help tie up lose ends.
Please email us at mnsu.esg@gmail.com and let us know if you are interested in any of these positions. They look great on a resume!
Keep an eye open for emails about initiation!

Meeting Notes 3.29.11
We are taking part in the Food & Fitness Expo next Tuesday April 5th from 10am-2pm. It will be right outside the Myers Field House Track. We still need people to help at the 1pm time, Please email us back at mnsu.esg@gmail.com or email Antonia directly at antonia.kolas@mnsu.edu. We will send out a reminder on Monday night for the people that are signed up for Tuesday.
Unfortunately the baseball concessions for last weekend were cancelled because of the weather. We still have baseball concession for this coming weekend on Saturday April 2nd and Sunday April 3rd from 11am-6pm both days. We really need help for both of the days, you don't have to sign up for the whole day, but if you could help out it would be greatly appreciated! Please email us back at mnsu.esg@gmail.com if you are interested in helping us this Saturday or Sunday.
Relay For Life is April 9th, a week from this coming Saturday. We have a second team made named MNSU Eta Sigma Gamma 2 so more people can sign up. The website for this is
http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?pg=team&fr_id=32554&team_id=922241. It is $10 dollars to sign up. Remember to keep fundraising!
We have decided on a theme for our night at Relay For Life. Our theme will be "Hunting For a Cure" We will be wearing camoflauge gear. So get all decked out to look like a hunter! (make sure you leave the gun at home!) We have been brainstorming ways to fundraise and have fun at the event, we have thought up of ideas such as a carnival style fishing pond for the little kids to win prizes. "Camo" Livestrong bracelets that we can personalize and sell, facepainting, making headbands, and maybe an obstacle course. We were also thinking of selling fruit baskets and sandwiches.
If anyone has any pop up style chairs that they can bring to Relay For Life so we have somewhere to sit that would be very helpful! We already have some people bringing tents so we have some place to put our stuff/sleep. We have some people that have volunteered to go shopping for prizes for Relay For Life next Tuesday at 4pm. Right now on our list is Sara H, Eva, Jessica, Natalie and Susan. If anyone is interested please email us!
We will be having initiation for the new members towards the end of the semester. Right now we are thinking of doing it the Tuesday of finals week. That would be Tuesday May 3rd. If you're a new member that needs to be initiated, come to the next meeting and we can discuss whether that time works for you or not.
Our next meeting is Tuesday April 12th at 4pm in CSU 202. See you there!
