Meeting Notes 2.15.11

At our meeting, we discussed our recruitment info meeting that will be on Tuesday March 1st at 4pm in CSU 238. We would like it if you could talk to your classrooms about ESG. Susan will have business cards printed out for you to hand out to people. They will be in the Health ed Workroom in the ESG mailbox. The Workroom is right across from Schelberg Gym in the hallway with the orange floors on the second floor. It is very helpful if we have current ESG members talking to classrooms to pull more people into the group. I will also send the business cards out in the email and have them posted to the documents on this blog if you would rather print them out yourself!

We talked more about the Food and fitness expo on April 5th. We got the go ahead to make the trail mix for students. If anyone works at a grocery store, we would appreciate it if you could see if they could donate any trail mix supplies such as cheerios, chex mix, dried fruit or anything else you think would work for make your own trail mix.

Mavericks after Dark Spring Break U is coming up on Saturday February 26, from 8-midnight. We are still looking for people to help out with that so if you're interested please let us know!

We are also tabling next week for the Mavericks after Dark Spring Break U event on Tuesday February 22nd from 11-1pm. Make sure if you're signed up that you remember to show up!

Our second tabling event next week is for heart health month. It is Thursday February 24th from 11-1pm. We still need people to sign up for that event so if you are available to sign up and help, send us an email at mnsu.esg@gmail.com.

We have figured out some times that seem to work for us for doing baseball concessions. We have decided that Saturday March 26th and Sunday March 27th is going to be the first weekend we sell concessions. Also Saturday April 2nd and Sunday April 3rd is another weekend that a lot of people were available to help. We still have have the website so you can let us know what days work for you. If you haven't entered times you're available to help, go to this website and fill it out please!

There is also a Relay For Life info meeting on Thursday February 17th at 5pm in CSU 238. If you are interested in learning about more fundraising ideas and helping to plan for Relay for Life, then this meeting could be very helpful for you!

If anyone knows of some great ways that we can fundraise as a team for Relay For Life, we are taking ideas! We would really like to fundraise at the actual event. People like to sell stuff at their tables and we were thinking of selling really good food. Let us know if you want to be in charge of fundraising for our team for Relay For Life.

Don't forget, our next meeting is our informational meeting for new members on Tuesday March 1st at 4pm in CSU 238! Don't forget to spread the word out about ESG!

Meeting Notes 2.1.11

We got more information on the baseball concessions for this semester. Working at these concessions will help us raise a lot more money for ESG. We will be picking a weekend that works out for most people to do it. Susan set up a survey that you can take so we can get a better idea of when we can have the most people helping out. It is very important if you are interested in selling concessions to go to this website and take the survey.

Just click "join our team." We really want to meet our goal this year!

We are also planning on fundraising in the community to raise money for Relay for Life. We were thinking things like a tip night or busing at a restaurant. We really need someone to step up and say they'll be in charge of setting up fundraising activities so we can raise more money for this important cause.

Our next meeting is Tuesday February 15th at 4pm in CSU 202. We will be talking a lot about recruitment and planning for our informational meeting on March 1st for new recruits. It is important that you are at the meeting so you can give your input and help out. Thanks!

Meeting Notes 1.18.11

Hi everyone, welcome back to ESG! We have a lot of events going on this semester that we're going to need a lot of help with!

If you were initiated last semester, Dr. Luebke has your materials for you. You can pick them up in her office or at the next meeting.

The RSO Fair is next Tuesday from 11-1pm in the CSU Ballroom. We need people to sign up to promote ESG and try to get new recruits. It is a good way to get our name out there.

We are working with Mavericks after Dark for a Spring Break event on Saturday February 26th. We are not sure on our responsibility yet but there are a lot of student organizations that are putting this together. We would need people to be available to help out Saturday night from 8pm-12am. It is a great opportunity for some hours.

Relay for Life is coming up. This year it is on April 9-10th from 6pm-6am. This is another great opportunity for more hours and you are not expected to be there the entire time. We have a Relay for Life team started on the website. Be sure to sign up and start donating, you will be asked for a $10 "donation fee." We will have an email containing the website to sign up on within the next week.

We have been asked by the Health Education office to help table for the Food & Nutrition Fair on April 5th from 10am-2pm in the Myers Field house. We can give away food and information about good nutrition at our table while we also promote ESG. We are looking for help in planning for the event. If anyone has any ideas, please let us know!

Also we are still doing the Tobacco Policy sheets from last semester. If anyone is interested in filling out a sheet stating why you would like a tobacco free campus please let us know. It will also count as an hour for your time sheet.

There was something that we forgot to discuss at the meeting. We have been asked to have a table in February to promote heart healthy and tobacco free lifestyle. We will need help in getting some ideas generated on how we can help with this event. We will discuss it next meeting, but if anyone feels passionate about this event/topic and wants to help out please email us.

Meeting 11.23.10

ESG Meeting 11.23.10

Sweatshirts are not in yet, we are hoping they will be in by initiation. They are $27.00 and we are still accepting money for the sweatshirts. If you can't bring the money to initiation, Natalie works in the Health office where Dr. Tappe's office is, you can drop it off with her or else you can put checks in the ESG mailbox in the Health Science workroom. Please make the checks out to MSU Eta Sigma Gamma.

We have initiation next Tuesday November 30th in PH 114 at 4pm. Please try to make it there especially if you are a new member. You can also pay your initiation dues then. We are making it a potluck, so if you would like, you can bring snacks for everyone!

The YMCA Run is December 11th, if you are interested in volunteering at this please contact an officer. Also we are still accepting statements for the tobacco free policy on campus, it will count as an hour. We were thinking of helping out with a Mavericks After Dark event on February 26th, it is a Saturday night, if you are interested in it please keep your calendar open! There are more events added on the calendar on the website that we will be taking part in next semester.

Susan has set up our team for Relay For Life. If you are interested in raising money for it and being part of our Relay team, please sign up on the Relay for Life website under the Eta Sigma Gamma group from Mankato. The date for Relay For Life is April 9th. We were recently asked to help out in a safety program for Rosa Parks Elementary school. They would like a few of us to come up with a program to teach the students how to cross the street safely when they are walking to school. Recently a student from Rosa Parks was hit by a car on his way to school. If anyone is interested in that or has any ideas for it, please contact one of the officers.

Also, we're making plans for next semester, if you could please send us your schedule for next semester then we will be able to set the meeting time. Thanks!

Have a good Thanksgiving! See you at Initiation!
